About Us
Riki Consultancy is a Māori owned, whānau business of brother and sister duo Janelle and Nathan.
Leading the way in cultural competency and te ao Māori advisory with over 17 years experience we are deeply committed to enabling individuals, teams and businesses who are on the journey to be culturally responsive.
We know many organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand want to understand more and do more for Māori.
For us the opportunity to influence and empower people, teams and organisations to positively challenge their existing beliefs and perceptions about te ao Māori (the Māori world) is what our team at Riki Consultancy strive to achieve.
We help to create new environments with deeper understanding of the best ways to work alongside Māori and our responsibilities to te Tiriti o Waitangi, creating a safe and empowering Aotearoa New Zealand, not just for Māori, but for all.
For us success means:
-
To support Māori to be successful as Māori
-
To contribute to equity for all people in Aotearoa
-
To create a better Aotearoa for our tamariki mokopuna (next generation)
-
To restore the imbalance of power between Māori and non-Māori
-
To create a safer space to walk between the two worlds of being Māori and Pākehā.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini
My strength is not that of a single warrior but that of many
We believe this isn’t a job for Māori alone,
but for all people who live in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our Tohu
The koru emulates the growth, development and support you will experience working with our team on your journey. The hands that extend from the koru embody our commitment to manaakitanga (support and kindness) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship).
The detailed haehae lines within our tohu are sourced from traditional carving styles commonly found within our whare whakairo, these hold our stories and whakapapa and represent the wealth of knowledge our team has attained from years of experience supporting people just like you.
The two manaia on each of the koru represent our two Kaihautū and founders of Riki Consultancy, Janelle and Nathan. They represent duality and the male and female elements, while also reflecting their whakapapa to Waikato Tainui.
The shape of the koru reflects the maunga Karioi in Whaingaroa (Raglan) - the paramount maunga of Ngaati Taahinga and Ngaati Maahanga hapū of which our Kaihautū descend from. Lastly the colours of the logo emulate the colours of Whaingaroa harbour and celebrate Raglan’s world renowned surf break and majestic beauty.
